The pollution at Xining is not nearly as bad as other major Chinese cities, however still comparatively severe compare to other countries' major cities. Qinghai Lake is a close bus or taxi ride away from Xining and is definitely a must see. Great place to visit and experience. The city itself is okay, I guess you can also have a nice stay over there, but you especially should go for the surrounding nature! We went to Qinghai lake and to Kanbula National Park - but there are many other places waiting!
I really liked the city. The parks and flower gardens are beautiful. Went to Qinghai lake which was a bit disappointing because too many tourists not enough lake experience. The lake is beautiful but there were barrier between you and the lake. My favorite thing was the green garden and flower park. I went twice. Truly beautiful. I'vebeen to Qinghai lake next to Hainan. But not Hainan it self. Qinghai make is really beautiful and worth seing. Although its a pity bises only run in the morning or early afternoon to and from Xining. I wanted to go the Chaka yanhu but the busses scheduals are reallynot convinient.
